We chose Romania as the first stop for our international expansion for well-considered strategic reasons. It is the largest emerging solar energy market in the eastern European Union, with solar irradiation comparable to Turkey, a guaranteed purchase tariff, and clear government support for renewable energy. But most importantly: it is a natural bridge between our Turkish expertise and the broader Eastern European markets

Why Romania?

5 strategic reasons behind our choice

The choice of Romania was not random — it came after an in-depth study of the solar energy markets in Eastern Europe. These five reasons are what make Romania the ideal market for our first phase of international expansion

High solar irradiation

Romania has an annual solar irradiation ranging between 1,100 and 1,300 kWh/m², comparable to the Konya region in Turkey. This means that the projects we execute there will achieve the same economic return that we achieve in Turkey, with the same payback period of 4-6 years.

Guaranteed purchase tariff

The European Union and Romania offer a guaranteed purchase tariff (CfD - Contracts for Difference) for renewable energy, reaching €85-110/MWh. This guarantees a stable return for 15 years, extendable, making feasibility studies more reliable than in volatile markets.

European Union membership

Romania has been a full member of the European Union since 2007. This means direct application of CE and IEC standards, free movement of components, and unrestricted access to the Austrian, German, and Italian markets. A single partnership in Romania opens all the doors of Europe for us.

Fast-growing emerging market

Romania's installed solar capacity grew from 1.4 GW in 2020 to 4.6 GW in 2025, and is expected to reach 8-10 GW by 2030. This accelerated growth creates broad opportunities for a company with our expertise to enter the market at the critical phase of expansion.

Geographic and cultural proximity

The distance between Konya and Bucharest does not exceed 900 kilometers, i.e. a single overland shipping journey. In addition to the shared historical and Ottoman ties, this makes logistical and administrative operations much easier than expanding toward distant markets such as Spain or Portugal.

Competitive operating cost

Labor and rental costs in Romania are 40-60% lower than in Western Europe. This allows us to offer competitive prices while maintaining a healthy profit margin, and partially compensates for the supply cost from German and Italian suppliers.
